Biography

Rupert Muldoon BSc MA

Rupert studied at Bedales School 1994-2001, where he gained an Art Scholarship before proceeding to University College London to study architecture at the Bartlett 2001-2004. He supplemented his architectural studies by transferring to the Slade School of Fine Art and also studied within UCL’s History of Art department where he was able to once again indulge in his passion for painting and sculpture, also learning about the conservation of easel paintings throughout the ages. This course of studies was both practical and historical, giving Rupert a firm grounding into the world of art.

In 2007 Rupert undertook an MA in Landscape Architecture at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. Following this he has completed a number of projects at the office of Vogt Landscape Architects.

Rupert is currently based in the south of England where he focuses on both landscape design and painting. Rupert has developed an abstract, painterly style, whilst drawing inspiration from the expansive landscape and skies around his family’s home on the South Downs. His style is bold and his methods of laying on paint, using a limited palette, rubbing through, scumbling colours, creates luminous and translucent surfaces capturing ephemeral effects of light and weather in a landscape with seeming ease.
